What to see in Camariñas
Camariñas
We arrive at the Camariñas Council (town hall) from La Coruña, in the middle of what is known as La Costa Da Morte. It is a journey of 89 km by car if we travel from La Coruña and 80 km if we start from Santiago. Camariñas is part of both the Lighthouse Route and the Shipwreck Route, which is why the visitor has a lot to see in Camariñas. The winds coming from the ocean make the annual average temperature is 13 degrees and in the summer of 23.
About the area
It is one of the richest municipalities in natural, cultural and artistic heritage on the Costa da Morte. Camelle, the English Cemetery, the Cabo Vilán lighthouse, Monte Branco and Trece Beach are very attractive places to visit and take photos to have good memories of this experience.
We cannot talk about Camariñas without forgetting its famous port, which all these years have provided the families of this council with money and food to be able to live, since the profession that would stand out the most would be fishing.
You can also enjoy beautiful views in a hidden viewpoint that you will have to ask the villagers to discover them, since they know stories from Camariñas that are worth listening to. Camariñas also has a series of archaeological remains, such as the Monte Cromado and Mourín castros, the Mámoa de Reira or the famous Foxo dos Lobos.
Venturing into this experience would be an opportunity to learn about the history of the Costa da Morte, starting with what to see in Camariñas .
What to see in Camariñas

The Cape Vilán Lighthouse
Its presence is imposing, towering over the Cape of the same name like a stone lookout. It was the first lighthouse in Spain to work with electricity since that January 15, 1896 at its inauguration. It is 125 meters high and has a range of 55 kilometers. Getting there from Camariñas will not take more than ten minutes by car and visitors have the opportunity to see what remains of the old lighthouse and visit the showroom with disused pieces that belonged to it.

English Cemetery
The sinking of the British-flagged HMS Serpent off the coast of Camariña in the late nineteenth century shocked the world at the time. It was due to poor visibility and in part the reason why the new lighthouse was built. Of the 175 people on the ship, only three were saved and the bodies began to reach the shore. This motivated the parish priest of Xaviña to give them a Christian burial and the entire town helped to that end.

Lake Beach
It is the perfect place to escape the urban area and spend a day of relaxation in a completely natural environment. This beach is only accessible by car and offers unguarded parking. Its crystal clear waters are calm and the sand is white. It is part of one of the most popular hiking trails in Camariñas, without a doubt when asked what to see in Camariñas this option is one of the best.

Things to do in Camariñas

Visit the Museum dedicated to Man de Camell
Manfred Gnädinger was a German artist who settled in the council of Camelle in the early 1960s. After studying art in Italy, he dedicated himself to living a simple life, in harmony with nature and developed his work, highlighting the sculptures in his marine garden that were devastated by the ecological disaster of 2002. A month later, he died at home, apparently sad and depressed at seeing his work destroyed.
At an initiative of the Camelle town hall, Man’s legacy has been rescued and his work has been cataloged. Today the museum is on permanent display.

Visit the Lace Museum
This museum honors the local tradition of handmade lace-making that is passed down from generation to generation. At the entrance we can see the Monument to the Palilleiras, a sculpture that evokes the work of these artisans. The permanent exhibition allows visitors to appreciate the most beautiful samples and if the temptation is too much, they can take a piece, perhaps one of the incomparable scarves, this is a small sample of What to see in Camariñas is what we offer you, but there is much more .
